History

Hollis Transport Agency, Inc. was founded by
Ron Hollis, Sr. and Jamie Hollis in 1979. Ron, Sr. started the business with a single truck
delivering newspapers and theatre supplies
in Northeast Georgia. As the business grew,
Ron hired his first employee, Mark Adams,
who is still with the company today. Ron's
two sons, Ron, Jr. and Brian, were also
brought into the company.
Hollis Transport expanded and began hauling
computer forms, soft drinks, tires, auto
parts, feed ingredients and more. The
business took off and soon a new state-of-the-art freight terminal was built in 1988.
Hollis Transport experienced many ups and
downs in the LTL (less than truckload)
business. Hollis had primarily worked for
big LTL carriers and delivered their
freight. Many of these carriers went out of
business and Hollis Transport was always the
first one to suffer from their demise.
Ron Hollis, Sr. retired from the business and then Ron Hollis, Jr.
left the business to run another family
business. Piedmont Tractor & Equipment,
located in Gainesville, Georgia. Brian Hollis
took the trucking business by the reins and
soon their first company logo was
established. Hollis Transport applied for
their own trucking authority and a new
direction for the company was born. They
started hauling truckload freight and soon
Brian picked up their first warehousing
account. Brian loves telling the story of
picking up that 1st account by running out
of gas out on Lake Lanier. David Smith, a
local business owner, towed Brian to his
dock. Brian thanked him and when David
refused payment, Brian offered his trucking
services if he ever needed help. It wasn't
long that David called him and needed
warehouse space to serve the local poultry
plants in Northeast Georgia. Hollis
Transport and Distribution was born that day
on Lake Lanier.
Today, Hollis Transport has customers all over the world. They
specialize in just-in-time
truckload deliveries, warehousing, 48-state-truck-brokering, and they still work
for some major players in the LTL industry.
Hollis Transport & Distribution moved to
Flowery Branch in 2005. Their facility
boasts 25 acres and soon their new 100,000
square feet addition will be complete. This
pushes their warehouse space to 260,000 square
feet. There's plenty of room for more
expansion in Flowery Branch and Brian plans
on a steady growth pattern. Brian's company
motto is "Get R Done!" Brian knows that
their company would be incomplete without
all the hard work of their employees.
Brian's mother Jamie still works in the
business also.
